At least seven people have been killed in a Saudi airstrike against a residential neighborhood in Yemen’s southwestern province of Ta’izz, as recent weeks have seen escalating Saudi strikes hitting civilian areas across the Arab country.

The al-Masirah television channel, citing local sources, reported that the Saudi aerial raid targeted a family house in al-Barh area of the Maqbanah district in the early hours of Thursday, causing casualties.

The sources added that there were two children among the fatalities. Six family members sustained injuries in the Saudi attack as well.

Elsewhere in the northwestern province of Sa’ada, a civilian was killed when Saudi forces shelled the Shada'a district.

The Yemeni Ministry of Public Health and Population stated on Thursday morning that 12 people were killed and 15 others injured, mostly women and children, in a series of Saudi airstrikes across Yemen over the past 12 hours.

Two Saudi airstrikes struck the homes of two families in Ta’izz, burying women and children under the rubble.

Rescue efforts were carried out by residents, who searched through the debris for survivors and rushed the wounded to hospitals despite the risk of further Saudi airstrikes.

Survivors and eyewitnesses stressed that the victims were civilians inside their homes.

In al-Mu'ayteeb village of the Mawiyah district, another Saudi airstrike targeted residential homes, injuring a man and a woman, damaging houses and setting passenger cars on fire.

Saudi warplanes also targeted two health centers in the al-Silw and Hayfan districts. The aircraft targeted two mosques and a public road in al-Zurbi and Dhi Samir areas as well.

Furthermore, Saudi fighter jets struck the telecommunications network in the Maran area of the Haydan district in Sa'ada province, destroying two communication towers, a power generator, and maintenance facilities. The attack disrupted residents' access to communications.

On July 20, the government in Sana’a declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia as a reaction to "an unjust and oppressive siege" that has lasted nearly 12 years in Yemen.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have subsequently reported a number of successful operations targeting ships linked to Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea.

Additionally, Yemeni forces have conducted retaliatory strikes on locations deep inside Saudi territory.

In March 2015, Saudi Arabia and its allies enforced a blockade on Yemen, launching a wide-ranging military campaign that received military, political, and logistical backing from the United States and various Western nations.

While hundreds of thousands of Yemenis have lost their lives, Saudi Arabia has not succeeded in its main objective of reinstating a puppet government in Yemen that aligns with its interests.
