The documentary Golden Corridor, produced by Iran’s Press TV, has won an award in the Best Documentary Achievement category at the 19th Resistance International Film Festival.

The award was announced during the festival’s closing ceremony, held on November 5 at Tehran’s Milad Tower.

The documentary was recognized for its cinematography by Seyyed Hassan Seydi-Parishan and Vahid Kazemi.

Maryam Talebi Anaraki, the film’s director and researcher, was also nominated in the same category for her research work on the documentary.

She was additionally among the nominees for Best Feature-Length Documentary Director.

Running for 52 minutes, Golden Corridor follows renowned Brazilian journalist Pepe Escobar on a field trip across Iran, exploring the strategic importance, economic potential and broader implications of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

The journey begins and ends at the southeastern port of Chabahar, taking Escobar through various parts of the country to northern ports, including Bandar Anzali on the Caspian Sea.

The documentary examines how strengthening land and trade connections between Iran and Russia could help shorten transportation routes and reduce the costs of international commerce.

Escobar had spent years researching international corridors and freight transit, producing numerous articles and studies on the subject. His expertise and experience made him a suitable choice to provide an on-the-ground account of the potential of Iran’s North-South Corridor.

Beyond its economic and geopolitical dimensions, the documentary also seeks to highlight the tourism potential of the route, showcasing the diverse landscapes and attractions along Iran’s north-south axis.

The 19th Resistance International Film Festival was held from October 29 to November 5, with 34 works competing in the documentary section.

With a history spanning nearly four decades, the festival focuses on themes including human dignity, justice, freedom and resilience.

Its 19th edition highlights resistance, courage, hope, social progress and collective awareness, while also welcoming innovative forms of storytelling, including artificial intelligence-based works and multimedia productions.
