Yemen’s Armed Forces have carried out a drone attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, successfully disrupting flight operations, the military spokesperson announced.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Thursday night that Yemeni forces targeted the airport with a drone, al-Masirah television reported.

He added that the operation was successfully carried out, resulting in the suspension of flight operations at the airport.

Yemen’s Armed Forces also responded to a renewed false claim by the Saudi regime that Medina had been targeted.

In a statement, the Yemeni military categorically rejected the Saudi allegation that a missile had been intercepted in the skies over Medina, calling it “a blatant lie and a major fabrication against the Yemeni people and their armed forces.”

The statement emphasized that Yemen’s military operations exclusively target the Saudi regime’s oil facilities and military bases.

“We reaffirm that Yemen, the land of wisdom and faith, holds greater respect and reverence for Islamic holy sites than any other nation,” the statement said.

It further described the Al Saud regime as the greatest threat to Islamic holy sites in the Hijaz, stating that those who endanger the sanctity of the holy land are the same ones who bring programs and ceremonies of debauchery and immorality into it.

The Hijaz, a historically significant region in western Saudi Arabia encompassing Islam’s two holiest cities, Mecca and Medina, holds profound religious importance in the Muslim world.

Earlier on Thursday, at least seven people were killed in a Saudi airstrike against a residential neighborhood in Yemen’s southwestern province of Ta’izz.

The al-Masirah television channel, citing local sources, reported that the Saudi aerial raid targeted a family house in al-Barh area of the Maqbanah district in the early hours of Thursday, causing casualties.

The sources added that there were two children among the fatalities. Six family members sustained injuries in the Saudi attack as well.

Elsewhere in the northwestern province of Sa’ada, a civilian was killed when Saudi forces shelled the Shada'a district.

On July 20, the government in Sana’a declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia as a reaction to "an unjust and oppressive siege" that has lasted nearly 12 years in Yemen.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have subsequently reported a number of successful operations targeting ships linked to Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea.

Additionally, Yemeni forces have conducted retaliatory strikes on locations deep inside Saudi territory.

In March 2015, Saudi Arabia and its allies enforced a blockade on Yemen, launching a wide-ranging military campaign that received military, political, and logistical backing from the United States and various Western nations.

While hundreds of thousands of Yemenis have lost their lives, Saudi Arabia has not succeeded in its main objective of reinstating a puppet government in Yemen that aligns with its interests.
