The Iraqi government has announced the closure of several border crossings between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the Iraqi government, the step comes as the Ministry of Interior has announced its intention to install new security equipment.
Iraqis criticized the move, saying it has backfired, resulting in shortages of food and groceries and driving up domestic market prices.
