Fresh Israeli attacks have killed four Palestinians and wounded dozens more across the Gaza Strip, including children, as Israeli forces continued shooting, artillery shelling, drone operations, and demolitions in several areas.
On Wednesday, at least three Palestinians were killed and 15 others wounded when an Israeli drone struck a civilian gathering in northern al-Mawasi, near the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, according to media sources. Medical sources said five of the wounded were in critical condition.
A separate strike in Khan Younis killed another Palestinian and injured five others. Drone attacks wounded five people in al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, and three others in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Five more were injured in separate attacks across the territory, including a five-year-old child and a father and his young daughter.
The attacks come amid reports that Israeli military officials have urged renewed large-scale aggression, arguing that the Gaza-based resistance movement Hamas has rebuilt its military capabilities and cannot be disarmed through international intervention.
According to the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, the officials presented US Army officers and other Israeli officials with an “intelligence assessment” noting that Hamas had reconstructed its tunnel network, strengthened its weapons stockpiles, and reinforced its fighting forces in areas under its control.
The assessment reportedly concluded that renewed military aggression was necessary to dismantle the movement's armed capabilities. Israeli estimates put Hamas's operational strength at between 30,000 and 40,000 members.
The reported assessment comes amid disagreements over US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza. Hamas has expressed readiness to transfer administrative authority, but the Israeli regime has reportedly prevented a relevant committee from entering the territory and beginning its work.
The regime has vowed to maintain its military presence in Gaza, while Hamas has said it would not surrender its weapons before a process towards establishing an independent Palestinian state begins.
More than 1,500 people have been killed since the regime and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire in October 2025. The agreement was supposed to end Tel Aviv's war of genocide on Gaza, which has claimed the lives of nearly 75,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since October 7, 2023.
