Protests in Lisbon against housing crisis, police violence

Citizens protested outside Portugal’s parliament in Lisbon over the housing crisis and alleged police violence, as the president called for dialogue.

Citizens demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Portuguese National Assembly in Lisbon in protest against the worsening housing crisis and the police violence they faced during the dismantling of protest camps, at a time when the country's president called for dialogue.

The Portuguese capital Lisbon witnessed on Tuesday a protest stand in front of the National Assembly headquarters, in which citizens from various age groups and professions participated, to condemn the housing crisis afflicting the country and to express their rejection of what they described as inhumane violence practiced by police forces against protesters during the dismantling of protest camps in Lisbon and Porto.
