A possible Republican presidential candidate has described a potential nuclear agreement between Iran and the six world powers as “horrible.”
In an interview on Sunday, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker called on US officials to leave the nuclear negotiations.
“Right off the bat, I think you’ve got to pull back from this horrible Iran deal,” Walker said. “It’s a horrible deal.”
This is not the first time that Walker criticized President Barack Obama for the nuclear talks.
Walker, who will announce his run for presidency this summer, last month urged the US president not to finalize a bad deal with Iran and said he would undo the agreement if he were elected president in 2016.
Tehran and the P5+1 group – the US, Britain, France, China, Russia, and Germany – reached a framework nuclear agreement in Switzerland on April 2.
The two sides are now working to draw up a final agreement by the end of next month.
On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva, Switzerland, following a round of talks at the deputy level in Vienna, Austria.
The ministerial meeting was held to review the work done and to further push the talks forward.
The next round of the talks will be held in Vienna on Thursday, with the presence of deputies and experts from Iran and the P5+1.
